这种重要的联系使通过一种简单的方法更早地发现更多的癌症成为科学进步的中心。

目前的指南建议对100多种癌症中的四种进行筛查。这些是广泛使用的筛查，如乳房X光检查或结肠镜检查。然而，这些筛查只寻找单一癌症的迹象，使更多的癌症没有得到筛查，通常在出现症状之前不会被发现。

尽早发现更多癌症的需要导致了多种癌症早期检测的发展。多重癌症早期检测依靠血液样本来检测癌症的存在。然后，如果检测到癌症，再做血液检查或影像学检查等其他检查来诊断癌症。

Galleri®测试是这些多种癌症早期检测方法中的一种。通过简单的抽血，Galleri测试可以检测出超过50种癌症的共同癌症信号。并非所有的癌症都能从血液中或通过Galleri测试检测出来。

Galleri测试不是一种基因测试，不能预测未来患癌的风险。Galleri测试不能取代其他癌症筛查测试。在常规癌症筛查中增加Galleri测试可以提高早期发现更多癌症的机会。

这种多种癌症早期检测的开发来自于不同的科学研究。它开始于2013年，当时一位医生正在研究将一种血液测试用于另一种筛查程序。在这项研究中，他们发现癌症可以在血液中检测出来。这一发现导致了进一步研究开发癌症早期筛查测试和Galleri测试。

Galleri测试是为了检测血液中的癌细胞DNA。人体的所有细胞都会向血流中释放DNA，但来自癌细胞的DNA看起来与健康细胞的DNA不同。来自癌细胞的DNA可以作为癌症信号。Galleri测试通过观察血液中的DNA来确定其中是否有可能来自癌细胞。如果Galleri测试检测到一个癌症信号，它还可以预测癌症信号的可能位置。这有助于医疗服务提供者确定下一步措施，以确认是否存在癌症。

Galleri的开发得到了超过2万名参与者的临床研究的支持。这些临床研究在全国各地进行，包括像克利夫兰诊所和纪念斯隆-凯特琳癌症联盟这样的领先癌症机构。

与其他推荐的癌症筛查一样，Galleri测试并不适合所有人。Galleri测试被推荐用于癌症风险升高的成年人。50岁及以上的成年人患癌症的风险增加了13倍。Galleri测试只能通过处方获得，可以通过一个人的医疗服务提供者或远程医疗合作伙伴申请。不建议怀孕、21岁或以下或正在接受癌症治疗的人使用Galleri测试。

实验室/测试信息

GRAIL的临床实验室通过了1988年临床实验室改进修正案（CLIA）的认证，并得到美国病理学家学院（CAP）的认可。Galleri测试是由GRAIL开发的，其性能特征由GRAIL确定。Galleri检验还没有得到食品和药物管理局的批准或认可。GRAIL的临床实验室受CLIA监管，可以进行高复杂度的测试。Galleri测试是用于临床的。
